Listen/Download: CFCF – “Camera”

Music For Objects

Acting as a companion piece to last years Excercies EP, CFCF’s new Music For Objects EP aims to “[present] a lighter side of our relationship with our surroundings.” Inspired by a piece of music composed by Laurent Petitgand for Wim Wenders’ documatary about the fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto called ‘Notebook on Cities and Clothes,’ CFCF (aka Michael Silver) seeks to examine how we relate to objects in everyday life, and try to express the inexpressible connections we have with them. Below you can hear “Camera,” a cut from the EP (which is out July 9th on Paper Bag Records) which contrasts immediately to his last work, with Philip Glass like swirling motions of saxophone before Silver comes in with some piano and a drum track. There’s something of the 80’s about it all, and while I can’t say I feel this way about cameras (mainly because i’ve never really owned one), it’s certainly evocative in an almost beguiling way. Listen and/or download “Camera” below, along with checking out the tracklisting.
