Listen: Lady Lazarus – “Lapsarian”

By ; November 7, 2012 at 7:48 PM

“Lapsarain” may or my not have something to do with Lapsarianism, which “is the set of Calvinist doctrines describing the theoretical order of God’s decree.” The word of the doctrine itself is interesting, though, stemming from the Latin word Lapsus, meaning “fall.” On her new single, Lady Lazarus sounds like she might have taken a tumble, and is slowly contemplating the world from the ground. “Lapsarain” inhales and exhales patiently, with an accordion that sounds like it secretly wants to break into “Auld Lang Syne,” as Lazarus croons melodically over it. It’s a bold statement, specifically to give as a first taste of a new album (her new record, All My Love In Half Light will be self-released on 29th January, the follow-up to last year’s Mantic). Have a listen here.
