Mark Kozelek to release covers LP in December

According to Caldo Verde Records’ website, Mark Kozelek, the singer/songwriter behind Sun Kil Moon and the now defunct Red House Painters, will release an album of previously unreleased cover songs entitled The Finally LP on December 9th of this year. The Finally LP will also feature two original instrumental pieces by Kozelek. The LP will hit stores just nine months after the release of Sun Kil Moon’s critically acclaimed April and just three months after Kozelek’s live album 7 Songs Belfast.

Mark Kozelek is renowned for his interesting takes on other artists’ material as was apparent on 2005’s Tiny Cities, a full-length record of Modest Mouse covers. On this LP, Kozelek covers the likes of Low and Stephen Sondheim, so it is sure to be another intriguing record from the indie rock legend.

Kozelek just finished a tour for Sun Kil Moon this past September, but will be playing solo gigs on the east coast come November.

The Finally LP tracklist:

1. Piano Song (Mark Kozelek original)
2. Finally (Kath Bloom cover)
3. New Partner (Will Oldham cover)
4. Send In The Clowns (Stephen Sondheim cover)
5. Lazy (Low cover)
6. Bedtime Lullaby (Jarond Gibbs cover from the Nickelodeon show “Yo Gabba Gabba!”)
7. Celebrated Summer (Husker Dü cover)
8. My Friend Bob (Dom Leone cover)
9. If You Want Blood (Young, Young, & Scott cover)
