My Morning Jacket has canceled four shows (including two shows at Obama benefits) due to singer Jim James’ fall at a show in Chicago little more than a week ago, but the band has now also canceled their entire European tour. This is dire news for the fans hoping to catch the band during the 17-day tour. The band adds that “our hope was to merely postpone the tour, but as our scheduling does not allow that to happen in the immediate future, we feel it is best to cancel this tour in hopes of re-scheduling at some point.”
The two Chicago shows that were canceled right after James’ fall has been rescheduled to 27th and 28th of December and after that the band is set to perform a New Year’s Eve show at the Madison Square Garden before heading over to Australia, New Zealand and Japan in January.
My Morning Jacket released their fifth studio album Evil Urges on June 10, 2008 and has been noted for being more experimental than their previous efforts.
