But since 2002, things in the Metro Area camp have cooled down, parting ways to focus on producing other albums or crafting some stellar solo albums. But Jesrani has finally confirmed the rumors that the two have been working on a follow up effort, noting that they have about 10 tracks laid down so far. But this album is taking a slightly different angle, or as Jesrani explains, “It’s going to be more of a song-oriented album. There will be some tracks, but it will definitely have more lyrics and vocal arrangements than our last one.”
“Right now I’m mostly interested in doing a strong record,” says Jesrani when asked about juggling new Metro Area with his side projects. Eight years has already been far too long a wait, so hopefully this newly regained focus can help Geist and Jesrani deliver a new album in the next year. I highly recommend checking out the full interview over at Development Online, or digging through your local record store’s crates to find a copy of Metro Area.
