Pitchfork points to two separate articles that allude to both some new Daft Punk material in the near future and some high profile collaborations on that new material. Exciting stuff, for sure.
First, Nile Rodgers gave an interview with CultureMap and revealed that Daft Punk are talking with him about working on their next album. “Those guys are great. They’re coming to my apartment on Monday and we’re going to talk about making a new record together.” Rodgers apparently wants to emphasize Daft Punk’s R&B influences for the new record.
As if that luminary wasn’t enough, Panda Bear recently gave an interview to Les Inrocks and revealed that he initially approached Daft Punk to remix a track from Tomboy “and they offered for me to work on their next project.” Is this the same album that they are talking to Rodgers about? We can’t be sure, but either way, Daft Punk fans should be happy that there appears to be some forward momentum from the duo.
