Naturally no one flinched when Fiona Apple disappeared from the limelight after she released the exemplary The Idler Wheel… last year; such is her nature. Thus, here’s something of a surprise: a new video for the aforementioned album’s closing track, “Hot Knife.” Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the video captures Apple singing the song as the layers of vocals are revealed. The delay in the video’s release comes after Anderson was held back from completion due to other projects (last year’s The Master, for instance), but there’ no harm whatsoever in revisiting the song.
