The video for Girls’ “My Ma” – the third single to be taken from their sophomore album Father, Son, Holy Ghost – is open for interprettion, but seems to be quite harrowing. The band members themselves don’t appear in it, but instead it follows a lonely old woman, who could indeed be Christopher Owens’ mother, but that’s up to you to decide. The video premiered over at Team Coco, and Girls will perform on Conan O’Brien’s show on March 22nd.
Plugging away since 1999, The National finally hit mainstream success with the release of their 2010 album High Violet. Of course, this entailed their first world tour, but in the new documentary Mistaken For Strangers, it’s only the backdrop for the relationship between lead singer Matt Berninger and his younger brother Tom, who had no idea that these short videos he was shooting would turn into a public document of their troubled, if still loving brotherhood.
