2011 was a weird year for The Flaming Lips. Well, every year is a weird year for The Flaming Lips, but 2011 saw the band particularly give in to indulgence, recording obscenely long songs, selling music is absurd packaging, and collaborating with some unlikely partners, including Neon Indian and Lightning Bolt. So, it is fitting that their final concert of 2011 featured the band selling one final collaborative album, on glow-in-the-dark vinyl no less. But, I’d be lying if I said the collaboration wasn’t intriguing, as it was with The Plastic Ono Band.
Below, you can stream all four songs from the project, which is long sold out of its 2,000 copy run. It is actually pretty listenable, and you can distinctly hear both bands doing their thing. Check it out.
