The wait for AU’s third album Both Lights seems to be taking forever, mostly because of the quality of the first track we’ve heard from it called “Solid Gold.” Now, having seen this video we’re premiering below, we’re not only itching to hear the album but we’re dying to see them live.
The Portland band is essentially a duo headed up by Luke Wyland, but here they have drafted in a bunch of extra players, even including a couple of horn players, to fully render this song. Together the ensemble navigates the multi-faceted song with aplomb, shifting through its several enlivening segments without missing a beat. This performance, captured as part of the Into The Woods series finds the band bringing a full-on party to this secluded cabin. We challenge you to not get pumped up by this performance, especially in the break down and slow-rebuild part that starts around 3.30 and goes on until the epic conclusion, wherein female singer Holland Andrews absolutely kills it.
